Y5 Weekly Update 23.9.22
Friday 23rd September 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5. The children produced some great poems based on the contrast between the Earth and the Moon in our English lessons. In maths, we have been exploring place value and larger numbers. In our science lesson, the children researched the planets and compared facts about them using a database of information. I'm so impressed with the children's effort in class.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed Mrs Riddell’s art lesson.
- In was interesting to learn about the Hindu naming ceremony in RE.
- We have enjoyed presenting the journey of a river as a collage.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children to see if they can describe the journey of a river from source to sea using some of our key vocabulary.
- Ask the children if they can remember any planets facts.
Looking forward:
In English next week, we are building towards the children writing their own narrative about a Moon landing exploration.
In maths, we have our last week of the current unit exploring place value and number.
In science, we have an interesting lesson on the scientists Copernicus and Galileo and the discoveries they made about space.
We will also start thinking about the exhibition and the wonderful work the children will be producing over the next few weeks!
