Y5 Weekly Update 24.11.23
Friday 24th November 2023 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a very productive week in Year 5. The class have done some great work on the daily life of children in ancient Greece, researching then presenting work. In science, we set up an investigation to explore air resistance – we will complete this next week using paper spinners. In English, we’ve looked at the features of letter writing. The children have done really well in maths with factors, multiples and prime numbers.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed learning about life in ancient Greece and comparing it to our lives now.
- We are enjoying Mrs Riddell’s lessons about bridges.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children remember the moral of the ‘Tax Collector’ parable?
- Can the children explain the difference between a squared number and a cubed number?
Looking forward:
Next week, we will be looking at ancient Greek warfare in our History lesson. In science, we will be using paper spinners to explore air resistance. In maths, we will be practising multiplying and dividing numbers by 10, 100 and 1000.
Don’t forget donations to the class hamper are still very welcome! Raffle tickets will be on sale soon.
Have a great weekend!
