Y5 Weekly Update 28.2.25
Friday 28th February 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It was great to see the children back after the break, full of enthusiasm for the another half-term of learning.
This week, the children have been learning about report writing in English. In Maths, we have had a further look at decimals with some comparing and ordering. In Science, we concluded our rusting experiment – you would be surprised how much excitement a rusting nail in the classroom can create! We started a little geography topic about the Burwardsley area in readiness for our residential.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- It was interesting learning about rusting.
- We are looking forward to learning all about Burwarsley.
- It was nice being back with our friends.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children if they can explain why rusting happens.
- Can the children tell you about the artist who painted a blue horse?
Looking forward:
Next week, it is World Book Day on Thursday – see the newsletter for details.
In Maths, we move on to some work exploring percentages. We will be converting between fractions, decimals and percentages and also learning how to calculate a percentage of a number.
In Science, we will be conducting an investigation about separating materials and in Geography we will be looking at road maps and the Ordnance Survey.
Have a great weekend!
