Y5 Weekly Update 29.11.24
Friday 29th November 2024 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
What a lovely week it’s been. On Monday, the children had a fantastic morning doing the Forest Schools activities. They looked at different animal furs and skulls, made shelters, lit fires and toasted marshmallows – all in the low November sun! In English, the children have written their own stories based on the book ‘FArTHER’ – they have produced some lovely writing in this topic. In science, we concluded out friction investigation, which was snowed off last week!
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We loved the Forest Schools session.
- We enjoyed creating the estuary wildlife information booklets.
- It was interesting discussing temptation in RE.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children show you how to convert mixed numbers to improper fractions.
- Can the children explain what a relative clause is?
Looking forward:
Next week, we will be changing our English topic to a short unit looking at letter writing.
In maths, we will continue exploring fractions, looking at comparing and ordering fractions.
In science, we will conduct an investigation looking at air resistance using paper spinners.
In geography, we will explore the impact of flooding.
Have a great weekend!
