Y5 Weekly Update 6.10.23
Friday 6th October 2023 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a very hardworking week in Year 5. In English, the children finished their story based on space exploration, before moving on to a great piece of writing about the journey of a river.
For the exhibition, we have produced some brilliant drawings of birds that would be found in an estuary, and published a lovely piece of writing..
In science, the children have looked at why we have night and day, and in Geography we studied the issue of flooding. A busy week!
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed drawing the estuary birds.
- We liked the RE work on Brahman.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you why we have night and day?
- Can the children remember any of the reasons why flooding happens?
Looking forward:
Next week, we will continue producing some lovely exhibition work. We’ll be attempting to paint estuaries in the style of Monet, and producing some lovely estuary information booklets.
In maths, we are exploring addition and subtraction strategies. Our science work will study why we have the seasons, and in geography we will be looking at rivers near our twin school, ElizabethFontein.
Don't forget children are having their individual photos taken on Wednesday.
Enjoy the weekend!
