Y5 Weekly Update 6.12.24
Friday 6th December 2024 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a hardworking week in Year 5. We continue to work on fractions in our maths lessons and the children are really gaining in confidence and ability. In science, we undertook an investigation into air resistance using paper spinners. In geography, we spent an interesting lesson looking at the impact of flooding. Inbetween all this, the children have been rehearsing their Christmas Service songs!
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed presenting work on the parable of the tax collector in RE.
- We found it interesting learning about the reasons for river flooding.
- We loved using paper spinners to investigate air resistance.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you the moral of the tax collector parable?
- Can the children explain why some objects fall to the ground quicker than others?
Looking forward:
It is the Christmas shop next week – the Y5s will be visiting on Tuesday afternoon.
Next week, we will continue to explore letter writing in our English lesson.
In maths, the children will be adding and subtracting fractions.
In science, we will be learning about levers and pulleys.
In RE, we will be looking at the Christian story of Jesus in the Temple.
It’s Christmas lunch on Friday, children are welcome to bring in a cracker!
Have a great weekend!
