Y5 Weekly Update 7.2.25
Friday 7th February 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
The children have worked really hard this week. Thy have produced two great pieces of writing – they wrote wonderful cliffhanger narratives based on The Hound of the Baskervilles and also produced some fantastic WWII poetry. In maths, we have moved on to look at decimals. In science, we set up an investigation, exploring conditions for rusting. In RE, we explored belief in angels in different religions.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed having the book fair in school.
- We liked the Henry Moore inspired poetry.
- We enjoyed being around our friends.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children if they can tell you why rusting happens.
- Can the children tell you about who Henry Moore was?
Looking forward:
How can it be nearly half term already?? It feels like we’ve just had Christmas!
Next week, the children will be writing a diary imagining what it was like on VE Day. We will also be producing some VE Day bunting to commemorate 80 years since the end of WWII – I believe this will be displayed in Goostrey somewhere!
In maths, we are looking at thousandths and in science we will be investigating solubility. We complete our Islam RE topic by learning about Allah and the Qur’an.
Have a great weekend!
