Y5 Weekly Update 8.11.24

Friday 8th November 2024 – Y5 Weekly Update

Looking back:

The children had such a brilliant first half term and they produced some wonderful work, especially for the exhibition. This week, in English, we started written work based on a new book, called FArTHER, which is a great story. On Monday, we did some useful PSHE work based on empathy and used a lovely book called ‘How to Mend a Broken Wing’. In maths, we began a unit of work on multiplication and division. Our new science topic is Forces.

Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • We had an interesting discussion about ‘Truth’ in our RE lesson.
  • We enjoyed playing Tag Rugby in PE.
  • We liked listening to FArTHER and exploring the illustrations.

Family discussion questions:

  • Can the children tell you the difference between a multiple and a factor?
  • Can the children tell you what the word ‘empathy’ means?

Looking forward:

On Monday, we are going to have a day of Remembrance activities, with the children writing and presenting their own thoughtful and reflective poetry.

In maths, we are exploring prime, square and cube numbers.

In science, we are going to design an experiment to investigate résistance and friction.

Have a great weekend!
