Y5 Weekly Update 8.3.24
Friday 8th March 2024 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5. We have started our Geography topic based on the area of Burwardsley – we’ll be looking at maps, Ordnance Surveys, compass points, human and physical features etc. By the time we go on this exciting trip, we should be local area experts! In maths, we have moved on to some work on decimals. In English, we started work on a wonderful book called, ‘The Promise’. This is a thought-provoking text and the children have already done some great writing this week.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed the science lesson investigating solubility.
- We have enjoyed the book, The Promise.
- We enjoyed finding Burwardsley on road maps and deciding on a route from Goostrey.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children tell you what type of area Burwardsley is?
- Do the children remember what these term mean – soluble, insoluble, solvent, solute?
Looking forward:
Next Thursday, we have a science afternoon planned across the whole school to tie in with Science Week. The juniors will enjoy a carousel of activities.
In maths, we will continue working on decimals, before moving on to begin work on percentages.
In our Geography topic, we’ll be looking at the human and physical features of Burwardsley and analysing human and physical features.
In RE, we start a lovely new topic exploring art and music in religion.
Looking forward to seeing many of you at Parents’ Evening.
Have a good weekend!
