Y5 Weekly Update 9.12.22
Friday 9th December 2022 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5. Along with the rest of the Juniors, we have been putting in some final rehearsals for Monday's Christmas Services and there has been a real buzz around the school in preparation for these performances!
In class, the children have written a fantastic diary entry, imagining they were a child in Ancient Greece. In maths, we have done some work on perimeter this week. We also did an interesting lesson looking at symmetry in Ancient Greek architecture.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We really enjoyed writing the Ancient Greek diary entry.
- We have enjoyed learning the songs for the Christmas Service.
Family discussion questions:
- Can the children remember how to calculate the perimeter of a rectangle?
- Ask the children to tell you about the life of an Ancient Greek child.
Looking forward:
Next week, the children will be undertaking an investigation into levers in our forces topic. We will also be exploring how pulleys and gears work. In our history topic, we will be researching the legacy of the Ancient Greeks.
It is the Christmas Service on Monday – we have performances in the morning, afternoon and evening!
The children’s spelling test will be on Thursday next week.
We are doing our Elf Run on Friday morning – check out the newsletter for how children can raise money for charity.
The draw for the hamper will be on Wednesday – there is still time to buy tickets. Thank you for your support with this, raising money for the PTA.
Don’t forget we also have a Wider Opps ‘Progress Performance’ at 1.40pm on Wednesday.
Have a great weekend!
