Y5 Weekly Update 31.1.25
Friday 31st January 2025 – Y5 Weekly Update
Looking back:
It’s been a great week in Year 5. The children have undertaken some really interesting work about Alan Turing and Rationing in our WWII topic. In English, the children produced a couple of great bits of writing, describing Baskerville Hall and the moors of Dartmoor. In RE, the children explored the meaning behind some quotes from the Qur’an.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- It was interesting learning about thermal insulation in science.
- We are loving the Sherlock Holmes story.
- We enjoyed learning about the codebreakers in WWII.
Family discussion questions:
- Ask the children what we did in our thermal insulation investigation.
- Ask the children if they can show you how to calculate a fraction of an amount.
Looking forward:
Next week, the children will be planning and writing their own story based on The Hound of the Baskervilles.
In Science, we will be setting up an experiment to investigate conditions for metals rusting.
In RE we will be learning about belief in angels within different religions.
Our maths work moves on to explore decimals and percentages.
Have a great weekend!
