Y6 - Friday 18th January 2019 – Looking Back & Forth
Looking back:
It’s been a great week once more in Year 6 – we have enjoyed a busy and varied curriculum, learning lots of new facts, characters and skills. The class has enjoyed quite a few writing sessions this week; they have consolidated finding the nth term in maths, looked at different places for geography; enjoyed working on fitness for PE and looking at hat designs for design & technology.
Letters issued Y6:
SATs Information Evening Letter (issued Tuesday 15th January)
Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Playing hockey with Mrs. Cuttle in the after school club
- The fish election!
- Doing fitness training in PE
- Looking at hat designs
- Writing about Charles Maxim
Family discussion questions:
- Grammar Focus: What do PASSIVE sentences focus on?
Mrs. Cuttle taught the hockey club. Can you turn this into two passive sentences (one of which is a “whodunit?” sentence?) - What is a “scholar”?
- Which US state did you study with Mrs. Cooper and what can you tell me about it?
- What material was your hat made of?
Looking forward:
- Next week, we shall continue with the topics listed above and we shall be publishing our writing about Charles Maxim. Look out for these on Friday – hopefully, they will be available to read and share with your families after school. We also look forward to welcoming families to our SATs information evening on Tuesday.
