Y6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 29th November 2019
Y6 - Friday 29th November 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
This week, we have been revising and refining our skills with multiplication and division, particularly when applying these to reasoning-style questions. We have begun to compose narratives in the style of quest & adventure stories for English, and our inspiration was taken from the traditional tale of Beowulf, told via an animated story. The class completed experiments to investigate lung capacity on Monday and have continued with their understanding of biomes. In addition, they have been increasing their knowledge of countries and capital cities across Europe. Their practical skills were in evidence on Thursday with the making of ……….ooh! maybe we shouldn’t say just yet! Wednesday saw us welcome the Head Boy and Girl into Year 6 to talk about the transition to Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School. It was lovely to welcome our visitors and we were especially proud as the Head Girl – Ellie – is a former pupil of Goostrey. Our practising for the Carol Concert continues……….and we can say that on Friday, our pupils could proudly boast at being TRILINGUAL as opposed to bilingual – one of our weekly spellings. We’ll say no more just yet…a few things to be revealed.

Looking forward:
- We shall be continuing with all of our lessons mentioned above. There are stories to be completed, new maths topics to be learned, making projects to continue, science to be applied and French to be practised. We also are looking forward to our PTA Christmas Bazaar on Friday. We are also encouraging our pupils to practise their times tables using the Rockstars app and website. I (Mrs. T.) understand that we have some fast-fingers in Year 6, so I’m literally off now to practise my tables and to see if I can work out how to “challenge” Year 6. The gauntlet has been cast………………
