Year 1 we 19th January
Hi All,
Next week we will be continuing our work on write explanatory texts in English. We are linking this to the topic work in the afternoons. We are continuing to look at the seasons as well as seasonal changes.
If you could discuss the changes of the seasons with your child, that would be helpful. If you could talk about the things that change; animals (hibernating or more fur), the plants (leaves on the trees) and the weather (cold and hot).
In maths we are looking at subtraction. If there are opportunities to use subtraction in a practical problem solving way at home that would be great. We will be using number lines and counting back.
e.g. – If you put 5 cars back in the box, how many will be left out to play with?
In the afternoons the children are going to working on their topic on mega structures and the science behind seasonal changes.
