Year 1 we 27th January
Hi All,
In Literacy this week we will continuing our unit traditional stories and fairy tales. This week we will continue to look at different examples of stories and tales and looking specifically at Jack and the beanstalk. The children will be giving their opinions on the different stories as well as using conjunctions (‘and’ and ‘or’) to extend sentences or put two small sentences together to form a big long one!
In maths we will continue with our topic on subtraction. Looking at how to subtract or take away. How subtraction undoes addition and using subtraction in word problem. We will then start a new unit on place value exploring numbers to 100 and counting in 10s. With Mrs Saxton the children will be looking at 2d and 3d shapes
In the afternoons the children will have Religious Education (looking at ‘Belonging’ and Music (with Mrs Hext) on Monday. The children will be looking at British birds and logging how many they see (tempting the birds with the fantastic bird feeders they made- you will see them hanging up in the trees as you come to school).
