Friday 13th November 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2
Looking back:
Another great week at school, with the children continuing to be happy in class and making good progress with their learning. Well done Year 2!
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Subtracting numbers using a number line. We kept trying and we can do it.
- The Night Gardener book
- Making a dance about journeys in PE and using our track for exercise
- Learning our class song
- Guess the Teacher for Children in Need. We didn’t think it was Mrs Freeman!
Family discussion questions:
- Who is this week’s inspirational person?
- What is a simile?
- What is Florence Nightingale famous for?
Looking forward:
- Reading books are changed on Mondays - please ensure your child has their pack with them every day

- Setting descriptions
- Multiplication
- Materials – science work
- History – Florence Nightingale
- School nurse team visit for the fluenz spray – Monday.
Homework in Year 2
Please read with your child every day. Many children are decoding their reading books well but find answering the comprehension questions much harder. We are working on this at school but it will really help if you can also ask questions during home question time. Please see our class page for further ideas (files section).
Maths: subtraction game to be played by Friday then kept at home
English: capital letter sheet due Friday
Spellings: phonics words to be quizzed on Friday. The children should get all these correct if they can use their phonics knowledge.
