Year 2 16th July Looking Back and Forth
Friday 16th July 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2
Looking back:
It has been a great penultimate week in Year 2 and I’m so proud of all the children. We have finished the history and geography topics for this term, published our Rosie Revere stories and completed some beautiful clay tiles in art. We also had an extra Premier Sports lesson and spent time enjoying the outdoor areas of school.
We have spent time discussing what it will be like in Year 3. I will be sending home a Power-point next week which should help over the holiday.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Making and painting clay tiles for Take One Picture
- Publishing my story
- Castles
- Geography
- Everything!
Family discussion questions:
- What do you know about Year 3?
Looking forward:
- We will collect reading books in this week so that we can prepare for September. Please keep reading and look out for the library Summer Reading Challenge.
- A week of activities based around our history topic of castles. This will involve writing, maths, art, PE and lots more!
Homework in Year 2
I have not set any homework for this week but please see below:
Please read with your child every day. Many children are decoding their reading books well but find answering the comprehension questions much harder. We are working on this at school but it will really help if you can also ask questions during home question time. Please see our class page for further ideas (files section).
Maths:
Please help your child to learn their 2, 5 and 10 times tables. We will have a quiz every week. When your child knows the first sheet I will send home a sheet with mixed up times tables. You can use the Percy Parker You Tube videos or chant them. The best way to learn them is to practise for short periods every day, rather than once a week. Please keep the sheet at home so you can practise. Times Table Rockstars passwords were sent home.
Spellings:
If your child is writing at home and mis-spells a word please show them how to spell it correctly.
