Year 2 22nd November Looking Back and Forth
Friday 22nd November 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2
Looking back:
This week the children have finished their own adventure story about a boy and a lost penguin. They were very proud to publish them onto special “penguin” paper. Have a look on the red noticeboard by the entrance for some of their work! In maths we have begun to learn ways to multiply, beginning with repeated addition and then by counting in lots of 2s,5s and 10s using arrays. We have had our first run through of A Midwife Crisis and have also been very busy with geography (comparing cities to the countryside), science (materials) and history (houses through the ages) alongside ball skills and dance in PE.
I’m very proud of Year 2. They all have a great attitude to their learning and never give up. We say…”mistakes are part of learning. If I can’t do it yet… I will be able to soon”.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Writing my story on the special “penguin” paper
- Multiplication
- PE
- Finding out about the city and the country
- “I love my school and my teachers”
Family discussion questions:
- Would a cup made from paper be a good choice for a hot drink? What would be better?
- Ask me about my school day.
Looking forward:
- Instruction writing
- PE sessions on Tuesday and Friday– ball skills and dance
- Maths – multiplication
- Nativity songs and acting
- History – houses through the ages
- Please send named costumes into school by 2nd December.
Homework in Year 2
Please listen to your child read for 15 minutes each day and talk about what they have read. Can they tell you what happened? Do they understand the meaning of new words? What was their favourite part? Please use the bookmarks we sent home to help you.
Maths: sheet due back on 29nd November
English: learning your lines for the Nativity. Please help your child to know when to say their line and “act” it out.
Spellings: quiz on 29nd November
