Year 2 25th January Looking Back and Forth
Friday 25th January 2018 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2
Looking back:
This week the children have explored fractions of shape and number and begun to write recounts about the Great Fire of London. They have discovered more about habitats and worked as scientists to decide if something is living, non-living or has never been alive. They have begun to use their music knowledge to decide how to tell the story of the Great Fire with instruments. In PE they have enjoyed gymnastics and using their bodies to make controlled movements.
I asked the children to think of words to describe Year 2. Fantastic, hard-working, excellent, fun, enthusiastic and brilliant were just a few adjectives they generated. One child said “It’s just like a butterfly” because “butterflies are just so nice.”
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- “Learning new things every day.”
- “I enjoyed maths because I am really good at fractions.”
- “Writing about the Great Fire of London because I enjoy learning about our history.”
- “Finding out who the star of the day is. I feel happy”
- “I like being with my teacher and my friends.”
Family discussion questions:
- What is an ostinato?
