Friday 4th December 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2

Looking back:

Another great week at school, with the children continuing to be happy in class and making good progress with their learning. This week we have written story plans for our current book, “The Night Gardener”. In maths we started our work on division by making sets or groups of objects. When working as scientists we investigated the changing seasons and looked at deciduous trees in our school grounds. In history, the children looked at Florence’s diary and wrote their own as if they were her. On Friday we did Zumba in class PE which was great fun as well as good exercise. We recorded our song for the school CD – please look at the newsletter for all the information. There was so much more too– please ask your children to tell you about our week.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Singing our song for the CD. Mr Hext said we were awesome!

  8. Christmas Jumper Day 11th December – please wear your jumper with your school uniform and bring a donation to the PTA.
  9. School Christmas CD orders due back by 11th December please. The letter is in your child’s homework folder.

 

 

 

Homework in Year 2

Please read with your child every day. Many children are decoding their reading books well but find answering the comprehension questions much harder. We are working on this at school but it will really help if you can also ask questions during home question time. Please see our class page for further ideas (files section).

Maths: estimating sheet due Friday

English: reading comprehension due Friday

Spellings: common year 2 words to be quizzed on Friday.
