Year 2 Friday 22nd March
Friday 22nd March 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2
Looking back:
This week has seen us writing a persuasive letter from Oliver, the boy in our story. The children published their work and it can be seen in the classroom. After that, they became “detectives” and discovered clues to our next book. In maths the challenge has been to solve problems by deciding whether to multiply or divide.
In topic work with Mrs Cuttle, they have created timelines about Florence Nightinglale, showing their understanding of chronology. In PE, we have been using dance to keep moving, thinking about positional language. We also use the outdoor track every day to walk or run laps.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- “Playing on the field with my friends.”
- “Writing a letter to Oliver’s mum.”
- “I like knowing my best work is going to be on display.”
- “I liked reading”
- “I liked finding out what our next story is going to be – I can’t wait to write it”
Family discussion questions:
- When did Florence Nightingale live? Was it before or after the Great Fire of London?
Looking forward:
- Writing an adventure story
- Times tables quiz – new sheets came home on Friday for those who were ready.
- Outdoor PE
- Judaism
- Mother’s Day shop on Monday 25th
