Year 2 Looking Back and Forth 14.3.25

Y2 Friday 14th March 2025– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:  This week we collected vocabulary for our own version of a return narrative. In maths, we have been measuring in centimetres and metres. Did you know the school is 35m long? In Computing we created anti-bullying posters to explain what you should do if you are being bullied.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • I enjoyed everything!
  • I enjoyed going on the field at playtimes.
  • I enjoyed building bug hotels at playtime.
  • I liked making a bullying poster x 19 chn
  • I enjoyed doing measuring in maths.
  • I enjoyed playing with my friends x 2
  • I enjoyed getting to know new children. X 10 chn
  • I enjoyed PE because I liked hitting the ball.
  • I liked planning Grandad’s Mountain.
  • My highlight was finding a bee on the field.

Family discussion questions:

Next week we will be learning to measure using litres and millilitres. Please discuss any examples of this at home- maybe when cooking or look on the labels of bottles and containers for examples of measurements.

Looking forward:

Next week we will begin to write our own return narratives- Grandad’s Mountain. In maths, we will be learning to measure using litres and millilitres. In science, we will be looking for microhabitats around the school.

PE is on FRIDAYS! Please ensure school PE kit is worn.

Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.

Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’.  Please record when you read with your child in their reading diaries so we can track their progress and see who has completed the challenge this term!

Have a great week,

Mr Warhurst
