Thursday 23rd October 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 2
Looking back:
We have had a lovely week. I am so impressed with how the children are working now. Everyone has had a chance to be Star of the Day this half term and the children are really settled. It is time for a rest and recharge before learning starts again.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Story acting – The Fish who could Wish
- Hot maths - Adding 2- digit numbers
- Performing a South African dance
- Turning Mrs Freeman into a germ!
- Playtime with our friends
Family discussion questions:
- What is a “shark fin” in maths?
Looking forward:
- Reading books are changed on Mondays - please ensure your child has their pack with them every day
- Geography – The United Kingdom
- A new English topic
- We will start subtraction in maths
- History – Florence Nightingale
Homework
Please read with your child every day over the half term break. It is also great to read to your child as they will hopefully enjoy it and also learn new words through listening. Many children are decoding their reading books well but find answering the comprehension questions much harder. We are working on this at school but it will really help if you can also ask questions during home question time. Please see our class page for further ideas (files section).
