Year 2 Looking Back and Forth 28.3.25

Y2 Friday 28th  March 2025– Looking Back & Forth

Looking back:  This week we have published our own ‘return narratives’ and written diary entries from the point of view of a character from our 'return narratives'. In maths, we have measured mass and in science, we have been learning to read and draw food chains.

Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
  • I liked making my Mother’s Day card. (Most of the class said this!) I liked spending time thinking about my amazing mummy.
  • My highlight was playing tennis in PE
  • I liked learning about food chains in science.  I learnt about the apex predator at the top of the chain and the producer at the bottom.
  • I’ve enjoyed playing with my friends at playtime.
  • I like hearing the stories in assembly.

  • Family discussion questions:
Next week we will be learning to read scales to measure temperature. Do you have a thermometer at home? If you are cooking or talking about the weather can you use the vocabulary associated with temperature?
Looking forward:
Next week we will write information texts about the life cycles of butterflies, we will be measuring temperature in maths  and  also selling Hamper Raffle tickets!

PE is on FRIDAYS! Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.
Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. Well done to the  4 children that completed the challenge again this week and received 10 house points. Please record when you read with your child in their reading diaries so we can track their progress and see who has completed the challenge this term!
Have a great week,
Mr Warhurst
