Y2 Friday 3rd November 2023– Looking Back & Forth
Looking back: This week we have enjoyed our new text – The River and the lovely illustrations. In maths we have been exploring related facts from facts we know. In science we have discussed swapping or favourite snacks for healthy ones.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- I’ve enjoyed working with my learning partner- he helped me (and he’s funny!)
- PE- I liked balancing in PE
- Geography- I have learnt about human and physical geography of Scotland.
- My partner has supported me this week!
- Handwriting- I liked practicing patterns to help my letters.
- Music- I enjoyed learning about pitch.
- RE- I liked learning about the Christmas story.
- I have enjoyed working with my partner because he’s worked very hard.
Family discussion questions:
- Discuss which snacks you like- can you swap them for healthy options?
- Discuss the type of house you live in - when was it built? Does it have any other interesting features?
Looking forward:
Next week we will be looking closely at the features of our new text- The River and the language used by the author. In maths, we will begin to learn a range of addition strategies. In, history we will begin to discuss how the types of homes in then local area.
Reminders
PE is now be on TUESDAYS!. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
Reading books are changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.
Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. (Well done to 8 children who completed the challenge for the second time this week and next week we have some children who may complete the challenge for the 3rd time!) Please record this in reading diaries so we can track their progress.
