Year 2 Looking Back and Forth
Looking back:
This week we said goodbye to our butterflies. The pupa metamorphosised into butterflies and we released them onto the field. In Maths, we have been estimating numbers on a number line and comparing numbers.
In English we have used what we know about the features of instructions to write our own instructions for building the perfect habitat for a butterfly.
Year 2 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- PE “ I liked the game we played to warm up.”
- PE- “I liked learning how to pass”
- Handwriting- “ I have enjoyed learning how to form new letters.”
- Science- “ We said goodbye to the butterflies.”
Family discussion questions:
- Discuss what your child enjoyed about releasing the butterflies.
- Next week we will be creating prints inspired by Andy Warhol- can you spot any repeated prints or patterns- maybe wallpaper, wrapping paper?
Looking forward:
Next week we will finish composing and learning the notation to our butterfly song.
We will be editing and improving our writing, ready for Exhibition.
Reminders
Reading books will be changed on Mondays. The reading folder is needed in school every day. Thank you.
PE will be on Fridays. Please ensure school PE kit is worn.
Reading books should be brought into school every day. Children’s books will be changed weekly.
Please continue to read every night as this underpins so much learning in Year 2. For every consecutive 14 days of reading the children will receive 10 house points and see their face on the ‘Reading Challenge Wall of Fame’. (Well done to another two children who completed the challenge this week!) Please record this in reading diaries so we can track their progress.
Thanks for your support
