Year 3 10/9/21 Looking Back and Forth
Friday 10TH September 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
Well – Mrs Freeman was right – what a great class I have! Thank you to all of the children for their lovely manners and kind consideration. What a busy and exciting first week back it’s been for our Year 3 children. We have begun to investigate Place Value in our Maths sessions, using resources to help us understand much bigger numbers whilst making sure we can remember what we learnt in Year 2 and English has been enjoyable as we used the book ‘Wish You Were Here’ as inspiration for our own postcard. We have discussed what we think RE is, have been introduced to the eating habits of some animals in Science, have loved reading al about Beegu, learning about the place for plastic and much, much more!
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Creating our own Autumn leaves using oil pastels
- We enjoyed reading the ‘Wish You Were Here’ story
and using it for our English work
- Working with Base 10 in Maths
- Writing our own postcards
- PE was great! Enjoyed playing the fitness games and taking the cones
- Science – learning about parts of the body
- We loved the Beegu story
- Singing our new Respect song
- EVERYTHING!
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- What are the three ways you can represent numbers?
- Why do they think they are special?
- How many bones are there in the human body?
Looking forward:
Next week will be another busy week as we continue to find out more about animal and human skeletons in Science, begin to explore the French language, introduce ourselves to our new topic of Africa, complete our reading assessment quiz, build on our place value skills in maths. We will also be welcoming in our new class book – ‘Egyptology’ – very exciting indeed!!

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe and well,
Mrs Sant
