Year 3 14/05/21 Looking Back and Forth

Friday 14th May 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3

Looking back:

Another great week in Class Three this week with many housepoints earned and lots of improvements made in our timestables tests and indeed our spelling test so we’re on the UP!!!! I have noticed a distinct air of awareness of our own targets this week too and lots of us are striving to develop our skills. We have had some great maths workshop sessions this week where we have worked really hard to find out where we find things tricky and how to solve those issues – an extremely valuable thing to have done – our confidence is now flying high. We have worked on our writing plan this week in final preparation for our long write next week which I have to say I am very excited for as I feel sure, all of the improvements we have made over the past couple of months will shine through in this piece. Some great homework came in this week too with a real emphasis on being out to impress from so many children – Brilliant! Our RE session brought up some excellent discussion about forgiveness and we can see how this fits into our lives too. Our focus on Eastern and Central Africa went well too this week and we are now ready to focus in on Kenya. We have been working towards coming to the end of our Romans work in History and learning how to relay race as a team in PE – thanks Mr Townsend! Our art pieces are looking great and our guided reading was all about a little boy and older brother. As you can see, our highlights have been numerous…

Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:

  • Computing – conversations in Scratch program
  • Science – how fossils are made
  • Spellings – learning our focus words
  • Timestables tests – we love them!!!
  • 100 word spelling challenge
  • Our hilarious and musical teacher
  • Running around at playtime
  • Mrs Sant’s raps to remember
  • Finally understanding fractions from our workshop
  • Relay work in PE

  • TT Rockstars
  • English planning – can’t wait to write
  • Bobby Dazzlers
  • Everything!

Family discussion questions:

Ask your children…

  • What is a conservationist?
  • What do we call the art technique we have been using this week?
  • How do we draw fossils?

Looking forward:

Next week promises to be a very exciting week for us all with the start of our swimming sessions and I will keep you all informed as we go with regards to the need for kits each day etc. PE sessions will continue on the usual day. Each day, unless alternative communication is received, your child will need the following please:

  • a swimming hat
  • come to school with swimming kit under their uniform
  • a towel
  • flip-flops/beach shoes type footwear if you have them to walk from pool to changing area
  • goggles - if form has been completed prior to sessions
  • a bag to put wet things in until home time

DAY ONE – MONDAY 17TH MAY – ALL CLASS THREE CHILDREN WILL BE SWIMMING UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED ~ THANKS SO MUCH

  • Just another reminder that PE is on Friday’s and so PE kit will need to be worn on that day please.
  • Again, please may I remind you that if your child’s lunch arrangements have changed now the new menus are out, please contact Mrs Carroll to let her know what you would like your child to have.

Thank you for your continued support this week. We are working really hard again this week to improve our times tables and our test scores so any learning support you can offer would be greatly appreciated as they really want to smash it this coming week. Same with the spellings – we are going for a full house of scores this week as there are 10 marbles for the taking!!!

Have a lovely weekend and fingers crossed the weather stays that bit brighter.

Take care and stay safe,

Mrs Sant
