Year 3 Looking Back and Forth
Friday 25th June 2021 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 3
Looking back:
We have now called time on our maths topic and we have all tried extremely hard to get to grips with telling analogue, digital and 24-hour clock time and applying our knowledge – quite a tough concept to grasp but we’re getting there. We have expanded our vocabulary yet again this week as we delved further into our book and similar return texts – we now recognise and understand words like morose, turbulent, cavernous, vessel and many more – fantastic work Class 3. We have completed our features work on the laptops for Geography – their work looks so professional and reads very well. We loved our sack races in PE, our plant experiment in Science where the celery turned blue, we recorded more of our learning about Muhammad in RE, completed lots of reading quizzes and have finished the week off creating more animations in Computing – a wonderful week!
Year 3 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Science – parts of a flower (lilies) research on the computers
- Sack races in PE and winning by taking Mrs Sant’s advice ‘gentle jumps’
- Timestables tests
- Arithmetic
- Working on Scratch in Computing
- Preparing for our History quiz
- Scene setting in English and word, similar and opposite
- Sharing our inspirational people presentations
- Everything!!!
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- What does commotion mean?
- What do we do when we have a ‘missing box’ question?
- Can you name the parts of a flower?
Looking forward:
Next week, we will begin our work on the Kruger National Park, North East of South African where we will research the ‘Big Five’ - Cape Buffalo, African Elephant, Black Rhino, African Lion and African Leopard. This will help us to begin to create our own tourist leaflet in Geography. We will continue with our Tingatinga Art work, begin to think about our end of year project and will be moving on to our new topic in Maths of length and perimeter. We will also kick off on our planning for our final written piece in English – a return story which I’m sure they will love.
- Please not that PE will now be on a Tuesday and so PE kit will need to be worn on that day please.
Have a lovely weekend and fingers crossed for the return of the sun on Sunday I believe.
Take care and stay safe,
Mrs Sant
