Year 4 Friday 7th February 2020 - Looking Back and Forth
Friday 7th February 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back:
The children continued to use the text ‘The Whale’, this time we looked at the newspaper articles, and begun to write our own newspaper articles about discovering a mysterious species of whale. We have been looking at apostrophes and how they work for contractions as well as possession.
In maths, the children continued to work on multiplication, looking at efficient methods of solving problems.
In the afternoons; we looked King Offa and designed an Anglo Saxon feast, fit for a king. We had a fantastic time performing for families at the POP UK concert. We began to create Anglo Saxon quiz boards in science, using electrical circuits.
Questions to ask at home:
- What would you feed King Offa?
- What types of language features might you find in a newspaper report?
- What is a conductor and insulator in electricity?
- What was your favourite POP Uk song?
- What is the MTC – how can we get ready for it?
Highlights of the week:
- Tag Rugby with the Premier Sports coaches
- Writing my newspaper introduction
- Reading different newspaper reports
- Creating my quiz board in electricity
- Maths and timestables
- TTRockstars and improving my score
- The POP UK concert!
Looking forward:
This week, the children will be complete their newspaper reports. In maths, we will continue to work on multiplication and division; looking at as written methods and multiplying 2 and 3 digit numbers by 1 number. This week, the children will complete their quiz boards, as well as learn about how Anglo Saxons wrote and how Christianity was brought to the Anglo Saxons.
