Year 4 Looking Back and Forth 13th September 2019
Friday 13thth September 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back:
This week the children started their work on biographies. They planned and began to write about the mountaineer from Mobberley, George Mallory.
In maths we puzzled our way through Roman numerals. At the end of the week, we were getting quite confident at them. We went for our first swimming lesson in Year 4 and were placed into our initial groups. We met our class Mr Northwood. He came in on Friday afternoon and saw us hard at work with our Timestable Rock stars programmes.
Year 4 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- Our George Mallory writing
- Swimming and being the first to get changed and winning 5 housepoints!
- Roman Numerals
- 5 minutes reading
- Rockstars timestables
Family discussion questions:
- What Roman numerals can you remember?
- What is the rule with Roman numerals?
- What is an Arabic number?
- What can you tell me about George Mallory?
- How does George Mallory link to Goostrey?
Looking forward:
This week we will complete our George Mallory biographies.
In maths we will be looking at rounding to the nearest 10 and 100, as well as looking at bigger numbers – 1,000’s.
In the afternoons, we will be going to Sandbach leisure centre for our swimming lesson. We also have a one-off session of Tag Rugby on Friday with the Premier sports coaches. In the afternoons we will be starting our topic on mountains, investigating the mountain ranges around the world.
