Year 4 Looking Back and Forth - Friday 1st March
Friday 1st March – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back:
This week, the children have settled back well into their routines. We have begun a new book in English, that we think could be an action-packed story, with Viking Gods! In our maths lessons, we have been practising the skills of multiplication, using 2,3 and 4 digit numbers. We have explored; informal methods, long methods and short methods and chosen the ones we like to work with best.
Questions to ask at home -
- Which method do you prefer in maths – the long or short multiplication method?
- What do you think the new story is about?
- What is a constellation?
- What does the word ‘intrepid’ mean?
- What does the word ‘pored’ mean?
- What does the word ‘enveloped’ mean?
Children’s highlights of the week
- Starting our new story in English
- TTRockstars
- P.E. – Hockey
- Sound in science
- PHSE and the book The Flower
- Maths – multiplying 3 and 4 digit numbers by 1

Looking forward:
This next week, we have a trip to Delamere to look forward to, where we will be looking at the habitats of woodland creatures, as well as mapping reading and orienteering.
Homework in Year 4
Maths – Orange Sheet – if the children could work on these calculations for 1 hour maximum. It will be fantastic practise.
English – Abstract Nouns
Reading – daily at least 15 mins – remember to take the Accelerated Reader Quizzes
Rockstars – as much as possible 10 mins daily is ideal – at least once a week for 20 mins
