Year 4 Looking Back and Forth Friday 2nd July

Friday 2nd July– Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

This week, we has a great week, exploring the story Red, the crayon’s story and what the word RESPECT means.  We explored angles in maths and Viking longboats in history.  We painted our brooches and put movements to our PBuzz music.  All in all a packed and fun week.

Questions to ask at home:

What was Red crayon’s story?

What is your routine for PBuzz?

What does the word respect mean to you?

What is an acute, right and obtuse angle?

What can you tell me about a Viking longboat?

Who is Sven?

Children’s Highlights Of The Week:

  • Creating our Anglo-Saxon front covers
  • Sports day practise
  • Painting our brooches
  • Angles in maths
  • Decorating my respect thumbs up
  • P Buzz work with Mr Birch
  • Everything!

Looking Forward:

This week, the children will be planning and writing their Viking stories.  We will be learning more about the Vikings.  We continue our work on shape and properties of shape.  We also have the PJ Fun Run on Monday (please bring £2 for the PTA).  On Tuesday, it is our sports day (please ensure your child is in their PE kits) and we have Bikeability on Friday.  Children will need their bikes, long trousers and of course their helmets.

Homework in Year 4

Reading – daily at least 15 mins – in preparation for Accelerated Reader Quizzes at school

Rockstars – as much as possible 10 mins daily is ideal – at least once a week for 20 mins

Soundcheck is a great tool to prepare the children for the Goostrey Multiplication Tables Check in June.

Spellings  – Mrs Riddell – Please learn them for the test on Wednesday.  It is better to look at them for 5 minutes each day than try to learn them all in one night.  The children remember them better learnt over the week.

English  - commas

Could the children please complete their homework in pencil or blue/black pen not felt tip.
