Year 4 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 7th October
Friday 30th September– Looking Back & Forth in Year 4
Looking back:
This week, we wrote our biographies in our English books, tackled Roman numerals, finished our dioramas and had an extremely informative visit from Mr Few, who had climbed up the Everest base camp. He told us lots of information about the journey and fascinating facts about the sherpas, yaks and feeling of being in the Himalayas.
Questions to ask at home
- What did Mr Few tell you about Himalayas and Everest Base Camp?
- What is the Mallory Mystery?
- Do you think Mallory is inspirational? Why?
- What Roman numerals can you remember?
Children’s highlights of the week
- Writing my biography
- Learning about George Mallory
- Mr Few’s visit
- E. with Mr Biggs
- TTRockstars
- Looking at modern mountaineering equipment
Looking forward:
This week, the children will look at the environmental issues facing Everest. They will begin their animations of the expedition of Mallory. The children will be writing up their biographies of Mallory in preparation for the Exhibition. As well as creating a centre piece for our display. If all goes well!
