Year 4 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 8th November

Friday  8th November  – Looking Back & Forth in Year 4

Looking back:

This week, the class have been introduced to a new book, in English.  The story so far, has a polar bear.  From looking at the pictures, we think this is a lonely bear, lost in a new land.  We will read the story this next week.  This week, we had some wonderful visitors all the way from Thailand.  A Buddhist monk and two nuns came to talk about their lives. It was a very humbling experience as well as very calming. We also had 3 students from Holmes Chapel High School in to work with the class, working on Micro:bits, which the class thoroughly enjoyed.  The students will be working with us until Christmas.  In maths, the children have started to work on addition and subtraction of 4 digit numbers.

Questions to ask at home  -

  • What do you think is happening in the story about the polar bear?
  • Why do you think there is a crow?
  • What special visitors came this week?
  • What were the 6 things they said we should have in our lives?
  • In maths, what does the word exchange mean?
  • What new sport our we learning in P.E.?
  • What skills did you work on, on Friday, in P.E.?

Children’s highlights of the week

  • P.E. with Mrs Murdoch
  • Looking at our new book in English
  • TTrockstars!
  • Working on the Micro:bits with the students from HCCS.
  • Building and painting the dioramas, ready for the stop-frame animation work.
