Year 4 we 16th November

Hi All,

Next week in English we will be writing our non-chronological reports about Mt. Everest.  The children will be using their homework facts to enhance this work.  Ask your child about the dangers of climbing Mount Everest?  They’re proving to be ‘fonts of knowledge!'

In maths, the children will be continuing our work on decimals and fractions in particular multiplying and dividing using decimals.  This has been a new topic for the children and naturally they found it a little tricky.  To support your child in this – a good way is to look at how money is written.  For example

100= £1.00

10p =£0.10  - which is a good example of seeing a tenth

In the afternoons we will be continuing our work on mountains – the children are going to be making model dioramas of Mount Everest.  If you have any big shoe boxes and newspaper at home, could we use them please?  We will also start are science topic for this term, which is ‘states of matter’.  This week we will be exploring solids and liquids.  We will also start to rehearse the carols for the Christmas carol service this week.

See dates at the bottom – there is a lot coming up before Christmas.

I am looking forward to seeing you at Parents’ Evening next week.
