Year 4 we 20th April
I have to say that by the end of last week, I could hardly remember the Easter holidays, it seemed as if we have been back far longer because we managed to fit so much in. We began our 'Sound' topic in science with a silent walk round the school just listening - the weather was gorgeous and we were amazed at how much noise there is around even when the whole class was quiet! We will be carrying on with this topic throughout the half term. We all learnt more about division - lots of progress there - and we began our latest book, 'Oliver and the Seawigs'. This book will probably last into next term if it is popular with the children. We finished the week learning how to play rounders in the sunshine on the school field - what fun!
Next week, on Monday Mr Capewell, PE teacher from Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School will be coming in to teach the children for an hour. Miss Oakes from Premier Sports will also be teaching the class cheerleading on Tuesday afternoon - that looks like brilliant fun! We are looking at place value with larger numbers in maths and explanation texts in English. We are also going to be looking at latitude and longitude in Geography and there will be lots of other learning too - the hidden curriculum is a huge part of learning about life in general.
Please don't forget the York meeting on Tuesday in the classroom at 6.30. This will only take 20 minutes or so but it gives me the opportunity to tell you what to expect and for you to ask any questions.
Have a good week!
Mrs Cooper
