Year 5 17.5.19 Looking Back and Forth
Friday 17th May 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5
Looking back:
Another great week from the children. They have written their own Greek myths; telling the story of a fearsome monster and a heroic warrior. They have also done some great art based on the work of Georgia O’Keeffe.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed painting and photographing flowers.
- We loved writing our own myths.
- We enjoyed playing cricket in PE.
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- To tell you about their Georgia O’Keeffe artwork.
- To tell you all about the ancient Greek myth they wrote.
- About the music they are learning for ‘Come and Play at the Halle’.
Looking forward:
Next week, the children will be writing and performing some rapping poems. They will explore the structure and features of this exciting style of poetry. In maths, we will be undertaking some more work on angles. In the afternoons, we will be doing some more science work looking at life-cycles.
Don’t forget, there will be an informal Year 5 class assembly on Thursday 23rd May at 9.30am, where the children will present some of the written work they have produced so far this year. Look out for text messages with more details.

The Love Music Trust is delighted to once again be working in partnership with Hallé Education to give the young musicians of Cheshire East the opportunity to 'Come and Play with the Hallé'! This year's concert features a wide range of music from the classical and modern orchestral repertoire.
The children will be taking part in the annual ‘Come and Play with the Hallé’ concert at the Bridgewater Hall on Thursday 20th June starting at 1.30pm. I will be sending out a letter/consent form giving further details next week.
The concert will feature more than 1,200 children from across Cheshire East, performing with the Hallé as part of their Wider Opportunities programme.
Parents are welcome to join us at the concert. To purchase tickets (priced at £8) and hear your child performing alongside one of the world’s leading orchestras in one of the finest concert halls in the UK, please visit the link below.
