Year 5 Friday 1st March - Looking Back and Forth
Friday 1st March 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 5
Looking back:
We’ve had a fantastic first week back after half-term. The children have really enjoyed the beginning of our new writing topic based on ‘The Watertower’. They did their first PE session of the half-term, practising their gymnastic skills. We had a successful go at using Roman Numerals – the end of Year 5 expectation is that children can use them up to 1000.
Year 5 – Pupils’ Highlights:
- We enjoyed the writing this week - trying to drop in hints about a character’s personality.
- We enjoyed the Roman Numerals work.
- We have been enjoying our guided reading sessions with the book ‘Rose Blanche’.
Family discussion questions:
Ask your children…
- to show you how to use the Roman Numeral system.
- to tell you all about ‘The Watertower’ by Gary Crew.
- To explain how a lever works.
Looking forward:
This week we have the exciting art exhibition on Tuesday (5th March): 3.15-6pm in the Junior Hall.
Don’t forget that it is World Book Day on Thursday – children have been asked to bring in their favourite book.
Please could the children ensure they have PE kits in school. PE this half-term is on Tuesday afternoons, but it is always useful to have PE kits available in school.
