Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 10th January 2020
Y6 - Friday 10th January 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Thank You
"Thank You" from everyone involved in teaching Year 6, for the vouchers that were received for Christmas. We just enjoy teaching this class - they are really keen and eager - and we were all overwhelmed at the kindness from pupils and their families. It was very much appreciated, but unexpected, from all concerned. Thank you - again.
Looking back:
What a great start back we have enjoyed in Year 6. It was lovely to welcome our pupils back into class for what will be their final year with us! We have chatted about their holidays and they have told us about their Christmas gifts, visits and experiences. It sounds like everyone has enjoyed a lovely break.
We have then really ‘got stuck into’ our work, hopefully as you can see from some of the photographs on the gallery page. Excitement rang through the class when the sets of coloured pens were issued and we spent time thinking of various synonyms and related vocabulary for the word “thief”……….all will become clear this week. Mrs. Cooper has taken the class onto the field not only for PE, but to organise the pupils into a timeline of the Planet Earth. They have also been introduced to our new reading system “Accelerated Reader” and pupils have this week chosen a book within their new reading range. There will be a letter coming home this week for parents and families to tell you all about this new and engaging scheme.
We are really excited to be working with our class once more and we look forward to sharing more of our work with you in the coming weeks.

Looking forward:
- This coming week, we are going to be starting a new book for English – Mrs. Timmins and Mrs. Cuttle have had a sneak preview and are beyond excited to share this new text with you. Mrs. Cooper will continue with the history of Britain and Mrs. Benson will be starting new topics too. Please note that PE is now back to a Tuesday afternoon, although pupils should have their kits in school every day. We also would like to see ALL homework diaries in school – the pupils will be issued with revision homework very soon and it is important that these are recorded in the appropriate books. Thank you for supporting our pupils (and teachers) with this.
