Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 16th October 2020

Y6 – Friday 16th October  2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6

Looking back:

There are never two weeks the same in Year 6 – that’s how we like it.  This week, we have been enjoying lots of different activities throughout the curriculum, including: rewriting chapters; honing our long division skills; observing mushrooms (they don’t move much!); making tiles and stamps; dancing; testing; reading; laughing; and generally, being engaged with all our learning.

The class has been earning lots of marbles throughout this half term and are hoping to have filled their jar before we break up.  Therefore, Thursday is potentially a time for a treat.  The children have been asked to suggest possible “treats” and should we achieve a full jar, and need to let you know what they would like, we will text you as soon as they have decided.

Again, we have been aiming to let the class have time outdoors, weather permitting.  There are occasions when there is a light rain but children have not brought a coat to school.  Clearly, they benefit greatly from the fresh air at break and lunchtimes and we are asking families to ensure that children bring a coat with them so that we can get them outside when possible.  Thank you.

Details of the Autumn Term parents’ evenings are in the newsletter and via the website.  Bookings for Year 6 slots open at 7:00pm on Monday 19th October.  This year, we are offering telephone calls during the day, and after school.  As we share the teaching of the class, we are able to offer times which may be more convenient throughout the day.  Slots for the morning will be covered by Mrs. Cooper; slots for the afternoon will be covered by Mrs. Timmins; slots after school will be covered by both teachers.  We are very much looking forward to chatting with you to discuss how your child has settled into Year 6 – it’s been very different not being able to meet families face to face this year.  Hopefully, that will change sooner, rather than later.  Once again, we are both at the end of a telephone call or email, should you need anything.

Best wishes

Mrs Timmins and Mrs Cooper
