Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 20th March 2020
Y6 – Friday 20th March 2020 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
What a different week it has been this week in many ways but what hasn’t changed, is the attitude, dedication, eagerness and enthusiasm of our super class and we are extremely proud of the way they have conducted themselves throughout this week. Everyone involved in teaching you is impressed with your resilience, and the fact that you have smiled through some rather unusual circumstances. Please see the "highlights of the week” below – they’re a bit different this week – we hope you’ll like a different slant on this! Thank you also to Mrs. Boardman who spent the afternoon with us, after being the class governor with you since you began with us in Reception. The changes Mrs. Boardman will have seen in you as you have grown, must be amazing to compare from Reception to Year 6.
Thank you also to our families in Year 6 who have given us a lot of support over the time your children have been our pupils. We are excited to be working with you again in the near future when school re-opens and we look forward to seeing our class again. J
Year 6 – Pupils’ Staff Highlights:
- Sitting reading your whole class writing about “the Carmenas” and how all of that writing came together!
- Watching you work collaboratively in groups and choose words and phrases to be “just what you want them to be” to get your writing perfect.
- Being asked by your class if things make their writing cohesive!
- Watching you discussing maths questions this week and listening to how you reasoned through with each other about why your answers were different and the mathematical explanations that you held with each other to fathom this out!
- Listening to how silent you are when I’m reading The Good Thieves (I’m hoping to carry that on during remote learning – keep with me!)
- Watching you complete your tests with no fuss at all
- Watching you enjoy your PE lessons with your friends
- Counting how many times you needed to write down your school log-ins!!!
- Answering (or trying to answer) your questions about the current situation and seeing how you all are very calm about this
- Watching you giggle at rock-stealing penguins! He was a thief – and not a good one!
- Being super proud as you walked out of school today with no fuss what-so-ever, knowing that you will come together again once this bonkers situation is over
So far, Year 6, we (Mrs. Timmins, Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Cuttle, Ms. Dean, Mrs. Livingstone and Miss Atkins) have all thoroughly enjoyed teaching you and we are genuinely sorry to be giving up some of our face-to-face learning in the classroom. However, we’ll be back – albeit remotely – with you on Monday and we are excited to keep in touch with you. Remember what we said, Year 6…….be kind to everyone - that includes brothers & sisters, mums and dads, and everyone in your family, whether you’ll be seeing them in person, or via Skype, Facetime or any other media.
Stay safe! Be kind! Thinks positively! Make a change! Consider others! BE YOU!
YOU’VE GOT THIS, YEAR 6!
Looking forward:
- Let’s do just that – look forward. J
