Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 11th November 2016
Year 6 Week-in-Review Friday 11th November 2016
What a first week back after half term. It’s been great to catch up with the children this week and to see them back in our classroom, enjoying their learning.
This week, we’ve heard and read the story poem “The Highwayman” by Alfred Noyes. We’re at the early stages, but this will form the basis of our English lessons for the next few weeks. We’ve been honing our number skills with multiplication and money this week, and with Mrs. Cowell, we’ve investigated genetic characteristics which are inherited within both humans and animals.
The children really enjoyed their visit to The Hatworks Museum on Thursday and hopefully they have gained a mass of inspiration and ideas for their own hat designs when this topic begins shortly with Mrs. Benson. Hopefully the weather didn’t dampen their spirits this week.
On Friday, we respectfully observed the two-minute silence at 11:00am to commemorate Armistice Day and we watched two short videos about the 19,240 Somme Shroud project by Rob Heard.

Questions to ask your son/daughter this week include:
Who are the characters in “The Highwayman”?
What inherited characteristics were you investigating with Mrs. Cowell?
Tell me about The Hatworks Museum.
What is the 19,240 project about?
Kind regards
The Year 6 Team
