Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 16th March 2018
So, another week gone in class. We are heading towards the Easter break with quite some speed, but we're still managing to squeeze in quite a few new teaching points as we go along.
This week has seen us complete our writing about Sophie and we have debated her upbringing between Miss Eliot and Charles Maxim. We have also practised our (now vast) knowledge on determiners, not only in preparation for our upcoming tests, but so that we can use these effectively in our writing.
It's all been about area and perimeter in maths, with us looking at formulae for a range of 2D shapes including triangles and parallelograms. Lots of things to commit to memory. We've also been learning that the best way is to always follow instructions!
There's been work on our electrical circuits too - wait to see what we are currently creating! Not only that, but we've been busy in PE, continued with our hat explanations, practised our French and have enjoyed watching the musicians play in our Friday assembly.
Finally, a "Thank You" for attending our Parents' Evenings this week. It's been good to chat about what we're doing in class. A focus on the SATs was (and remains) necessary at this point in the year, but before we know it, our revision and practice will be worth it. Reminder: SATs meeting at 3:45pm on Tuesday 27th March.
Thank you again for your input and support this year.

Questions to ask your son/daughter this week include:
How many types of determiners are there?
What are they?
Can you give me a few examples for each type?
What does a determiner change to if there's no noun?
