Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 17th March 2017
Year 6 Week-in-Review Friday 17th March 2017
This week has been somewhat busy, to say the least.
It was lovely to chat with our Year 6 and families at parents’ evenings this week. Thank you to all who were able to attend and to have spent time discussing your child’s progress.
In class this week, we’ve been really consolidating our understanding of calculating “terms” in maths and calculating any given term in a sequence of numbers. We’ve continued with our class story “Rooftoppers” and we are at a crucial point with Charles and Sophie having arrived in Paris…..but WHO is watching them from above?
Mrs. Cowell continues to lead us through our study of “The Titanic” and we are really enjoying learning about this.
Our focus is beginning to shift a little more towards our assessments which are coming up in May. Please do keep an eye on the “Homework” tab which clearly sets out the revision for the maths and English question books which are due in on the Friday of each week.
It is expected that the homework set is handed in on the due date. It does help if the children have their homework diaries in school – particularly so that they can record the homework given. It is an expectation across the class that homework set (for whichever teacher or task) is completed in the allocated time. This ensures that we can discuss and mark the work in the allocated session during the day, and we can address misconceptions that might arise. If your son/daughter does have any query regarding this, please do contact us to discuss. We appreciate your support in this matter.
There are some photographs from our learning this week under the “display work items” tab. Please do see if your child happens to pop up on these – what have they been up to?
Thank you for taking the time to read our review.
Questions to ask your son/daughter this week include:
So, how do you calculate the Nth term?
Who do you think is watching Sophie and Charles from up above?
Tell me a little about The Titanic.
What is a “wild child”?
Kind regards
The Year 6 Team
