Year 6 Week-in-Review Friday 25th November 2016
Year 6 Reporters this week are: Happy Harry F. & Nice Noah
This week - in maths - we looked at time intervals on a train timetable as well as a TV guide. This wasn’t just your normal times in maths. We weren’t just telling the time, we were converting the time. We also did equivalent fractions and converted between decimals and fractions.
During English, we finished The Highwayman, turning the poem into a narrative. This week in our writing we focused on using adverbs and relative clauses. On Tuesday we looked at the key points of verse 1 of the poem and turned into a descriptive piece of narrative. On Wednesday, we independently looked at the key facts in verse 3 and 4 and turned them into a narrative too.
With Mrs Benson we were talking about how some refugees are waiting to travel, especially from the Greek island of Lesbos. After that, we looked at Bible references of people waiting for Jesus to come, and we explained this in our books.
With Madame Mottershead, some of us did different verb endings depending on the pronoun in French. With the whole class we were given French sentences and tried to work out what they meant.
With Mrs Cowell we looked at how a cactus and a camel had adapted to the desert and how a penguin has adapted to live in Antarctica.
