Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 5th July 2019
Y6 - Friday 5th July 2019 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
We are currently putting together a letter for the last few weeks, please keep an eye out in your child’s bag this week for important information. Thank you.
Looking back:
As we approach the end of the term, we are beginning to focus on rehearsals now for “The X Factory” – please lookout for a letter this week for ticket requests. We have – on Tuesday – discussed what costumes the pupils will require, which shouldn’t be too tricky this year, as most are school characters (with the exception of the flamboyant Bruno Macaroni!).
We began the week with two full days of hat-making: the pupils have worked on their creations and these will be ready to show and share with families at the upcoming “Hatwalk”. There was quite a mixture of glue, tissue, card, glue, papier mache, glue, paint, felt, glue, and a bit more glue around but the pupils also worked well to tidy the classroom back to normal. Their creations are thoughtful, funny, colourful, delicate, robust, stylish, brave, etc…. There is no end to the adjectives that we could use.
On Thursday, we welcomed Miss Eustis – maths teacher at HCCS – into class: she brought with her some maths activities to entertain and challenge the pupils with their numerical skills. This will also support the transition process into Year 7 at Holmes Chapel. The pupils enjoyed the activities and there are 14 “winning sweetie prizes” on our desk, ready to be awarded on Monday.
Friday saw the pupils enjoy Premier Sports lesson, out on the field, however, we had seven pupils who did not have the required kit and therefore missed out on an excellent sports session. In preparation for high school, we remind pupils that they must have their necessary kit in school and we would appreciate the support from families in ensuring that all our pupils are able to participate in all areas of the school curriculum.

- Tell me about the HCCS maths workshop.
- What costume do you need for “The X Factory”?
Looking forward:
- This week, we shall be focusing mainly on rehearsals for “The X Factory”. Pupils should still be learning lines (if not already fully learned) and practising songs. They will also be working on other tasks to complete their Year 6 work, too. Friday is Premier Sports – please ensure that pupils have their full kit in school to enable them to access this section of the curriculum.
