Year 6 - Week in Review - Friday 9th June 2017

Wow! What a week.

Welcome to our busiest half term in Year 6 - it literally is a whirlwind of activities from now until 26th July (our Y6's last day with us).

This week has simply been fabulous.  We thoroughly enjoyed our two days working with Mr & Mrs Hext to practise and produce an outstanding Buddy Music Concert together with our little Reception buds.  The atmosphere was super, the singing was tuneful, the drumming was breathtaking and the song (composed with much support, guidance and input from Mrs. Benson) was the best one Y6 have produced.  We hope that you thoroughly enjoyed the final concert on Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday saw the Y6 working on a detailed piece of writing comparing the characters of our texts - Sophie Maxim and Timothy Winters.  It's great that in the midst of so many practical activities, we continue with the normality (and hopefully, enjoyment) of our regular lessons to keep things ticking along nicely.

It was our school's "Environment Day" too, so Y6 spent the afternoon looking at the life cycle and world of butterflies, once again with their buddies.  Thanks to Mrs. Raven and Mrs. Flint for organising the wonderful activities.  We were joined by Ian for the day, who brought some beautiful owls to show us.  We really enjoyed listening to his stories from his time in Africa, and he shared lots of information with us about owls in general.

Friday now sees us enjoying time with our Premier Sports coaches and we are preparing for Sports Day next Friday (fingers crossed for great weather).  We then spent a super lesson learning to use and develop our computer skills with Mrs. Cooper and the "Scratch" programme.

Mrs. Holt joined us at 11:00am from Holmes Chapel High School.  She talked to us about the transition into Year 7 and hopefully answered many questions which always arise at this stage.  We finished off the day with Buddies once more and have now gone home for a well-deserved rest.

Thank you to all parents who were able to make the Kingswood information evening.  If you weren't able to join us, a pack of information will be sent home with your child on Monday.  Please do contact one of us if you have any queries.  There is an information form attached at the back of the pack which is due to be returned by Monday 19th June, please.  Without this form, we cannot take your child with us!

Next week is just as busy - see below.

Kind regards

The Year 6 Team
