Year 6 - Looking Back and Forth - Friday 11th October 2024
Y6 – Friday 11th October 2024 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
It’s unbelievable to think that we are at the end of our fifth full week in school and we are continuing to pack in so many different activities. This week, we have been using our artistic skills to look at symbolism through portraiture; we have completed infographics for our American heroes; we began to look at fungi for science; we’ve completed our mandalas for RE; and our work around friendship has continued. It was also special to have some super time with Faith Bebbington who brought some amazing artwork into school and we have made some special little figures to share with you at our Exhibition.
Thank you everyone for supporting our fundraising on Monday – to date, we are over £440 towards MND – what an amazing effort. We enjoyed running our 7 laps around the school track and what a most special way to finish the week – a personalised video message from Kevin Sinfield himself – a very special “Thank You” to Mrs Pritchard for (secretly) organising this: the pupils were really and truly surprised when they listened to it and realised that it was just for them! What an amazingly kind act from one of our parents, and our new mate, “Kev”.
We are one full week away from welcoming you to our Exhibition – in the meantime, do take a look at over 70 photos on our Year 6 page to see what the children have been enjoying this week.
Year 6 – Pupils’ Highlights:
(Admission time – Mrs T forgot to collect these so has imagined what you might have said, Year 6!)
- Making our figures with Faith Bebbington
- Running around the track with our buddies
- Wearing our rugby shirts, blues & yellows and number 7s
- Finishing our colourful mandalas
- PE with Mrs Murdoch
- Playing with our buddies on the adventure playground
- Publishing our writing
- Learning to do long division
Family discussion questions:
- What was it like to see Kevin’s special message?
- Which American superhero have you drawn for the Exhibition?
- How would you calculate 3,042 ÷ 13 using long division?
Looking forward:
- We are having a final week to complete our work for the following exciting week after this. Please do bring in your family friendship task notes on Monday so that we can work on this during the lesson. Friday will be PE as usual – we are looking forward to another brilliant week.
