Y6 – Friday 2023 – Looking Back & Forth in Year 6
Looking back:
Welcome back, Year 6 and here’s to a fantastic 2024: one year which will bring exciting times for all of you as you enter your final year of primary school and look ahead to what the year brings. 😊
Our first week back has seen us immerse ourselves in the beginning of a new story – “Hansel & Gretel” with the version being written by the brilliant author, Neil Gaiman. Ratio has proved an interesting topic in maths whilst netball is our skill on Fridays this half term. Our afternoon sessions have seen us receive US States of North America to research; we’ve been introduced to New York, with a specific focus on Manhattan; whilst symbols and circuits in science are seeing us strengthen our knowledge of electricity.
We have also begun to use our CGP books for our homework – these are in addition to the regular homework that is set and the CGP revision will support our upcoming preparation for SATs. Little and often, rather than cramming in the last few weeks.

- What does the topic of ratio do? If the ratio of boys to girls in a Year 6 class was 4:3 and there were 16 boys in the class, how many girls would there be?
- What three things can you tell me about Manhattan?
- Which electrical symbols could you draw for me now?
Looking forward:
- We are enjoying continuing with all of our new topics and we’ll share these with you next weekend. In the meantime, we are popping photos onto our website – please enjoy having a peek at us working.
